[EA] Speaker Series: CEO & Founder of Mighty Audio - Anthony Mendelson

Anthony Mendelson founded Mighty in June 2016 with the lofty goal of reinventing the iPod to work with Spotify, the world's largest streaming music service. It was an ambitious goal that most of his friends and advisors told him not to pursue ("hardware is hard...blah blah"). Like many entrepreneurs, he would not take no for an answer. He partnered with a fellow Anderson graduate, found a CTO, launched a Kickstarter campaign, and off we went. Fast forward three years, $2.5 million in funding, 80,000 units sold, ten employees, two lawsuits, and one Spotify partnership...I've learned a lot. This session will focus on how to (and how not to) launch a crowdfunding campaign and raise a seed round, partner with global public companies, build a business in the music industry, and deal with lots and lots of startup stress.

Anthony is the Founder and CEO of Mighty Audio. Prior to founding Mighty, he spent five years at Google managing an analytics team that he grew from five to twenty-five people. Anthony has also worked at the National Basketball Association and founded and sold a company that developed e-commerce solutions for the alcoholic beverage industry. Anthony received a BS in Economics from UC Berkeley in 2006 and a MBA from UCLA Anderson in 2009. He loves music, basketball, and gadgets.
