Join us for the first installment of the VC 101 Series featuring Prof. Jon Funk.

The VC101 event is designed to introduce EA members to the venture capital industry. Students are exposed to the complementary processes of raising money and making early-stage investments. As a result they gain insight to the latest trends in VC financing, learn must-have information on how to pitch to investors, and gain exposure to the common pitfalls to be avoided.

Prof. Jon Funk
Founder, Ocean Road Partners

Prof. Jon Funk is the founder of Ocean Road Partners (www.oceanroadpartners.com), a private venture capital firm investing in startup information technology companies in California.
He is a Venture Partner at Allegis Capital, a Palo Alto-based venture capital firm, and served as a Managing Director from its founding in 1996 until 2007, opening and managing the Santa Monica office. He currently represents Allegis on the Board of Directors of ClariPhy Communications. Prof. Funk has directed several of Allegis Capital's most successful investments, including Sandpiper Networks, Rent.Com, Shopzilla, and ClariPhy Communications (active investment), which collectively have provided $2 billion in returns to shareholders.

He was awarded Los Angeles Venture Association Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012. He serves on the Board of Directors of the UC Berkeley College of Engineering Annual Fund. He was also previous a founding General Partner of InterVen Partners. Prof. Funk received an MBA from the University of Southern California, and a BS in Civil Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley.
