IFA x EA presents Entrepreneurship Through Acquisition, a panel discussion on Search Funds moderated by Professor Kent Weaver. 

An introduction to an alternative path to entrepreneurship: the purchase of an existing company, rather than starting a company from scratch. Learn how you can pursue this type of venture post-MBA.

Panelists: 

Kent Weaver: Founder, CEO and Managing Member of Granite Point Partners.  
Kent has invested in over 75 middle-market companies as an individual investor and with Granite Point. Kent has partnered with numerous entrepreneurs to build successful businesses in tech and healthcare. Kent also co-teaches Management 298D-10 Entrepreneurship Through Acquisition.

Lacey Wismer: Founder & Managing Partner, Hunter Search Capital
Lacey Wismer is the founder of Hunter Search Capital, a private equity fund focused on investments in Search Funds and other Entrepreneurship Through Acquisition (ETA) investment vehicles. Previously, Lacey managed private equity investments for a Minneapolis-based family office, Hunter Trust, for ten years. Since 2010, Lacey has made over 60 investments in the ETA space.

Prior to joining Hunter Trust in 2009, Lacey was a healthcare investment banker at Deutsche Bank with an emphasis on M&A in healthcare services. She was also a consultant for the Center for Entrepreneurial Studies at the Stanford Graduate School of Business (GSB). Before attending business school, Lacey worked in corporate sales and athlete management for a sports management firm.

Lacey received a BA with Honors from the University of Colorado in 1999 and an MBA from the Stanford GSB in 2004. Lacey has held various board roles for non-profits, including currently as a Private Equity Committee Member for the Stanford Business School Trust Board. She is also an ongoing Alumni Admissions Interviewer for Stanford University. She resides with her husband and their three children in Park City, Utah.
