MCA Annual Case Competition

Calling all first-year FTMBA students with an interest in Strategy and Consulting. The MCA Annual Case Competition is your chance to work in teams of four to tackle a real-world business challenge, present your recommendations, and get feedback from second-year students and alumni judges. It’s a great way to sharpen your case skills and gain valuable experience ahead of recruiting and other case competitions.

Who Can Participate: All first-year FTMBA students at Anderson.
Team Registration Opens: Tuesday, August 12 at 9:00 PM (check Slack at that time for link)
Agenda:
Primer Session: Tuesday, August 12th at 8:00 PM on Zoom (CampusGroup registration required here).

Competition Day:
First Round Presentations: 9:00 AM - ~12:00 PM
Final Round Presentations: 1:00 PM - ~4:00 PM
Networking Reception with Judges: ~4:00 PM in North Terrace (mandatory)

Judging Panel:
First Round: Second-year FTMBA students
Final Round: Alumni and consulting practitioners

Important Rules
Team Size: 4 people, no exceptions
Presentation Format: PowerPoint, max 15 minutes (time limit strictly enforced), followed by 5–10 minutes Q&A
Outside Assistance: Not allowed (strictly enforced)
AI Tools: Permitted
Attendance: In-person attendance required for competition day and reception
Competition Dress Code: Business formal (including name tags)
Confidentiality: No disclosure of the case details, during or after the event
Class Attendance: Must not skip class to participate

While there are no formal prizes, finalists and winners will earn an early MBA accomplishment for their resumes and the chance to network with consulting practitioners.
