Historically, captains of industry have not only driven the growth of the economy, but they have also been among the foremost advocates of the free enterprise system, publicly expounding the broader societal benefits of the market economy. The future prosperity of our nation will depend on tomorrow's business leaders' ability to continue this tradition of promoting free markets.

The Adam Smith Society works to provide a venue where this discussion of foundational ideas can be explored and applied to the current economic environment. We believe that MBA students should acquire more than just expertise in areas such as management, marketing, and quantitative analysis—as important as these skills are. They should also come to understand—and be able to defend—the nature of the economic system that fosters job creation, wealth generation, the alleviation of poverty globally, and scientific innovation.

Mission
The Admissions Ambassador Corps (AAC) delivers an immersive on-campus and off-campus experience for prospective students. The AAC is responsible for managing class visits, campus tours, admissions interviews, and prospective student events such as A-Days and Admit Preview Day. Off-campus, the AAC manages portions of the Anderson website, a blog and Instagram account providing an inside look at the Anderson experience by sharing the school's unique culture with prospective students all over the world. The club works directly with the Office of Admissions and is well supported by a team of 100+ passionate first and second-year ambassadors who dedicate their time to sharing their passion for Anderson and recruiting the next generation of students. The AAC also operates as a liaison to student clubs to manage any prospective student outreach.

Mission
Anderson Student Asset Management (ASAM) is an application-based graduate-level program designed to teach MBA students how to create stock portfolios using quantitative methods. Students selected for the program as fellows are divided into teams, and each team selects an investment strategy based on research. Strategies are back-tested using computer models created by the fellows, and then implemented and tracked with funds provided by UCLA. The fund now manages about $1 million.

The Anderson Student Association (ASA) governs the UCLA Anderson student body to ensure high-quality student life and to build relationships among students, faculty, alumni and the business community. By virtue of enrollment, every Anderson student is a member of ASA and is eligible to participate in all sponsored events.

Whether bringing new cuisines or innovative takes on the classics to campus, Anderson Eats seeks to facilitate great eating experiences for students while cultivating a sense of community through food.

Pop-Ups
On a regular basis, we bring gourmet food (everything from burritos to handcrafted ice cream bars) to campus and hand it out for FREE. Because we love you!

Small Group Dinners
Each quarter, we bring you a series of small group dinners (aka D48's), both in restaurants and at members' homes. (Restaurant dinners are highly subsidized, and student-hosted dinners are free for members.) Stay tuned for more information about our next small group dinner coming up at critically acclaimed Bavel in DTLA in October! Several of these dinners will take place during dineLA Restaurant Week in January 2020.

Cooking Classes
We have a partnership with the Sur la Table in Westwood, with whom we partner to bring you unique cooking classes, subsidized for members. Past classes have included International Street Food and Chocolate Desserts!

Inter-club Events
Anderson Eats partners with several clubs to bring the joy of food to everyone in the community. Over the past year, our joint events have included: beer & cheese night in partnership with Anderson Craft Beer Club, a multi-course tasting menu with food and wine pairings from around the world in partnership with Anderson Wine Club, a hike with gourmet food and wine in partnership with OAC and Anderson Wine Club. Stay tuned for more information about an upcoming visit to the Homegirl Caf├® in downtown in partnership with Anderson Christian Fellowship and Net Impact!

The Energy and Cleantech Association (ECA) is the gateway to the world of energy production and consumption for students at UCLA Anderson. Our mission is to make UCLA Anderson the leading institution for education, innovation, and career development in the energy sector.

The ECA fosters student's career opportunities through company treks, career fairs, community engagement, and alumni connections. As well, the ECA educates students on industry topics and innovations by hosting a series of guest speakers, staging an annual Energy Innovation Conference and Energy Case Competition, and developing curriculum courses here at Anderson.

The Entertainment Management Association prepares UCLA Anderson students for careers in the entertainment industry through a robust series of professional, networking, and educational events. EMA focuses on building strong professional networks and fostering deep industry knowledge to help our members achieve unmatched access to top employment opportunities in all major functional areas of entertainment and media. The EMA reaches all sectors of the media and entertainment industry, including film, television, technology, new media, gaming, eSports, and music.

ENTERTAINMENT CAREER NIGHT
Entertainment Career Night (ECN) is EMA's annual marquee recruiting event. ECN is an opportunity for EMA members to learn more about career opportunities directly from representatives of various entertainment and technology companies. Students have secured both internships or full-time roles as a result of this event. Former corporate attendees of the event include Disney, Warner Bros., NBCUniversal, 20th Century Fox, HBO, Google, Netflix, Sony Pictures, Lionsgate, Paramount, Amazon Studios, Hulu, Universal Music, Live Nation, Fandango, Activision/Blizzard, and CAA.

COMPANY VISITS
Throughout the year, EMA organizes visits to various entertainment, technology and start-up companies in Los Angeles. The major studios host company presentations and networking receptions where Anderson students can learn more about internship and full-time opportunities. We have previously attended visits at NBCUniversal, Disney, Paramount, Warner Bros., Lionsgate, and Hulu.

SILICON VALLEY & NYC TREKS
During designated weeks in Fall and Winter quarters, Anderson students travel to Silicon Valley and New York City to connect with several entertainment and technology companies. In association with AnderTech, EMA members can attend the Silicon Valley Trek, which exposes students to companies at the intersection of technology and entertainment such as Netflix, Sony Playstation, Ticketfly, and Pandora. The NYC Trek has included companies such as Google, A&E Networks, Sony Music, NBCUniversal, Spotify, Yahoo!, and DirecTV.

CAREER DEVELOPMENT & INTERVIEW PREP
The EMA has designed a comprehensive curriculum to prepare students for networking and recruiting in the entertainment industry. The curriculum is designed in coordination with the Parker Career Series and provides general industry education, small group development sessions, and individualized preparation and mentorship. The curriculum provides an industry foundation before breaking out into specialized programming for film, television, new media, gaming, and music. The series is held throughout the Fall and Winter quarters with additional ad hoc events in the Spring.

ANNUAL ALUMNI NETWORKING EVENT
The EMA's annual alumni networking event ("Networking 101") allows students to connect with recent Anderson alumni who currently work in the entertainment industry. In coordination with our career development series, Networking 101 provides first-year MBA students an introductory opportunity to prepare and practice networking in entertainment.

D48'S (DINNER FOR EIGHTS) AND MBA SPOTLIGHTS
Two of our regularly held programming series are D48's and MBA Spotlights, in which one professional and a group of students dine and discuss the entertainment industry in an informal setting. The dinners are hosted by an executive or a current EMA member who works in the entertainment industry and allow students the chance to develop a deeper understanding of a specific function within the industry.

PULSE CONFERENCE & MEMES EVENTS
EMA members have special access to events, conferences, and speakers organized in partnership with the Center for Management of Enterprise in Media, Entertainment & Sports (MEMES). The annual PULSE Conference brings together students, alumni and leading industry experts to discuss the industry trends and challenges. Students can also compete in the Entertainment Case Competition, attend NextFest and the Big Data Conference, or meet with top executives in small group settings.

SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL
Every year, our members attend the Sundance Film Festival. The EMA organizes tickets, lodging, and transportation so the students are afforded the full festival experience. EMA members also have the chance to attend sponsored parties, try out new technologies like virtual reality, eat at local restaurants, and even go skiing.

Members of the Entrepreneur Association are consistently successful when seeking investment during their time at Anderson through our strong connection to private investors in our alumni community. Together, EA and the Price Center facilitate formal opportunities for you to gain exposure to your growing businesses and you as a developing entrepreneur. Two primary examples are our annual Knapp Business Plan Competition and various fellowships provided through generous alumni and Anderson affiliates which provide essential early-stage capital for students. Even if you come to UCLA Anderson without a fully developed business idea, EA will coordinate workshops and mentorship programs so that you can take your idea from scratch to a completed business plan - not to mention the possibility of getting some funding to give you a real shot at starting your business.
