What are current trends and best practices in global development? How does the Gates Foundation leverage partnerships to deliver vaccines, emergency relief and family health to the areas with highest need? What role does the for-profit sector play in tackling the world's toughest challenges? Join us for our last High Impact Tea of the year with Hugh Chang, the Director for Maternal Newborn and Child Health at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to learn more about this challenge.

Previously, Hugh was Director of Strategy, Planning & Management for Global Development working closely with the President and leadership team for Global Development on strategic planning, portfolio management, and coordination across the foundation's global activities. He also currently oversees the Global Libraries program.

Before joining the foundation in 2012, Hugh was Director of Special Initiatives at PATH, and led development of its strategic framework, including measurement and evaluation, annual planning meetings and processes for continuous improvement. Prior to working in the field of global health, Hugh spent 15 years in the high tech industry working at Microsoft and Sun Microsystems.

Hugh received his Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from UC Davis, his Masters of Business Administration from the Anderson School at UCLA, and Masters in Bioengineering from the University of Washington. He currently serves on the Board of Advisors for the Department of Bioengineering for the University of Washington and is a former board member of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, the Washington Biotech and Biomedical Association, and the Overlake School.
