Remembering Their Stories: An Evening with Holocaust Survivor Renee Firestone

In partnership with the Jewish Graduate Student Initiative, the JBSA is proud to enter the last quarter of the year on a powerful note by bringing a Holocaust survivor to speak on campus. The JBSA would like to invite the Anderson community to hear Renee Firestone share her compelling story. Most famously, Renee Firestone appeared in Steven Spielberg's Oscar-winning 1998 documentary "The Last Days," but for decades Renee Firestone has toured the country and enraptured audiences in an effort to keep alive the memory of one of the saddest chapters in world history to ensure the atrocities are not forgotten.

In her speeches Renee has stressed that the world cannot presume that a rise to power like Adolf Hitler's couldn't happen today, given that genocide and human rights violations are still occurring in the modern age. We must continue to remember the past, if we don't want it to happen to us in the future.

The feedback from last year's attendees was overwhelmingly positive. Some students said it was the best event they attended at Anderson. With the even the youngest Holocaust survivors now in their 70's, we are honored that Renee can join us again to recount her first hand experiences.

Kosher refreshments will be provided.
