Hello New Members!

We welcome the FTMBA class of 2019 and FEMBA class of 2020 to Anderson and all new members to SOMA! Here are some announcements for existing and new club members!

Internal Kick-Off - Oct 5 - B301 - 5-7pm
Please come and meet the current board members and get details around SOMA's events. More importantly, learn how you can get involved with SOMA! Come and pick up your SOMA t-shirts if you haven't already!

Case Competitions:
a. Michigan Ross is organizing Global Operations Challenge, one of the nation's best Operations case competitions, in partnership with PwC/Strategy&. Last year, SOMA team was amongst the finalists at this competition! Please see the attached PDF for more details.

b. MCA's Deloitte Case Competition offers students a great opportunity to meet and interact with senior Deloitte leaders, while competing for a trip to Deloitte University to compete at a national level for a prize pool of $50,000. Sign-ups for the case competition will open on Wednesday, October 4 after the MCA Welcome Night and need 1 MCA member as a mandatory requirement, so keep a watch out for that! Opportunities for Careers in Operations and Corporate Strategy:
a. DaVita is looking for exceptionally motivated individuals who are passionate about impacting patients and improving their quality of life, for their Operations and Internal Strategy Roles. b. The Broad Center's The Broad Residency is a 2-year leadership development program that matches talented professionals (many of whom have NOT worked in education previously) with management roles in public education agencies throughout the nation. Concurrently, participants are supported with an intensive two-year leadership development program. Many Broad Residents have M.B.A.s and private-sector experience and leverage this program to forge a new, more fulfilling path addressing critical societal issues. They are looking for students interested in Operations and Internal Strategy and are open to 1st and 2nd years both. Please see MyCareer for more details on their Oct 5th event.

Humberto Martinez, VP Customer Logistics

 

Humberto Martinez has more than 17 years of professional experience in different roles at Sales, Marketing and Supply Chain. This multifunctional experience is enriched by having multicultural experience being responsible for different countries like Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Peru and Argentina.

 

Currently he is responsible for Customer Logistics for US and Canada at Mattel. Humberto has a bachelor degree in Economics and an MBA from McCombs Business School at UT.
