Apply for SOMA 1st Year Director Roles!
Looking to get more involved with SOMA and develop leadership skills? 1st-year director roles are now open to apply through this form here. We encourage those interested to read through the list of responsibilities and chat with the current VP to gain a better understanding of expectations (but is not required to meet with a VP). The list of director roles and VP emails are also listed in the instructions of the form. Applications have been extended to 10/18, and the results will be announced on 10/20. B2U Searching for Operations Intern
B2U Storage Solutions, Inc. (B2U) develops, owns, and operates battery energy storage systems (ESS). B2U’s storage systems are connected to the grid where energy and grid services are sold into wholesale markets where persistent price arbitrage opportunities are caused by grid reliance on intermittent renewable energy. B2U’s energy storage system uses proprietary technology and repurposes EV batteries to deliver significant cost advantages and a superior Levelized Cost of Storage. Description: B2U seeks an Operations and Supply Chain Management (OSCM) intern for 12-15 hours per week to work with our team to systematize processes for component sourcing and the production of an innovative Li-ion energy storage product known as the EV Pack Storage (EPS) System. The position may include work on the following functions:
- Sourcing and materials management: Assist with improving processes for procuring and managing materials and inventory for EPS, and ensuring cost-effectiveness.
- Integration: Assist in improving processes for integrating components into EPS including achieving regulatory certifications.
- Delivery and logistics: Assist in improving processes for fulfilling demand for EPS.
Skills/Requirements:
- MBA candidate pursuing an Operations focus
- 2-3 years of successful operations and/or supply chain management with a product development nexus preferred
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite
- Excellent attention to detail
- Interest in opportunities in battery storage, renewable energy, sustainability, decarbonization.

Helpful Tips: Stay focused on what you want and try not to get distracted by other people's timelines or processes. Go after the role even if you think you are underqualified. Prepare your stories, practice the key takeaways and apply it back to the role you are applying for. In my case, having an "accountability partner" was key - they kept me on track with my goals, reviewed my resume, and kept me motivated if I did not get an interview or an offer. Remember - it's a process and everyone goes at their own pace.
Favorite fun things to do in LA: Hiking with my dog, rollerblading by the beach, picnics in the park with a good bottle of rose, and hunting for the best breakfast burritos and fish tacos in the city
